Martin Beary, senior in Agricultural Studies, grew up on the family farm near Lovilia, Iowa. He attended Indian Hills Community College before transferring to Iowa State in 2018 on multiple scholarships. While at Iowa State, he has enjoyed participating in the Farm Operations Club, Beginning Farmers Network Club, and Agricultural Marketing and Management Organization Club (AMMO).
Beary is a current member of both the Change-Maker Academy and the Student Incubator Program. He decided to become more involved with AgEI after taking several entrepreneurial economics courses with instructor Kevin Kimle. His favorite AgEI memory has been participating in a pitch competition in one of his classes.
He is currently working on his own venture, a custom spray application business located in southern Iowa. His target market is smaller farmers in his community. He just completed his successful first year of operation and has added acres for 2020. His previous internships with AgriLand FS, Inc. and other custom applicators have helped him to be successful with his own operation. After graduation, he plans to farm and continue to grow his business, potentially applying fertilizer as well.
In his free time, Beary likes spending time outdoors checking cattle, crops and fishing.
We wish him all the best as he continues to grow his business!
