Josie Burgett

Pleasantville native, Josie Burgett, is a junior at Iowa State University studying agricultural business and international agriculture. Josie has been involved with Start Something College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) since her first week of college. As the Start Something CALS student assistant, Josie is primarily in charge of helping coordinate events, lending a hand whenever needed, and greeting students and guests as they walk through the door. Josie is also a member of the Start Something CALS Student Leadership Team and is involved with other student organizations on campus including the National Agri-Marketing Association, Agricultural Business Club, Alpha Zeta Professional Ag Fraternity, and Bacon Expo.

With an international agriculture major, it’s no surprise that Josie loves to travel. In fact, she will be studying abroad in Europe this upcoming spring semester where she will focus on international economics.

Josie has held internship positions over the past two summers at FarmHer (2016) and Nationwide Agribusiness (2017), which has allowed her to explore very different areas of the agricultural industry.

We are very thankful to have Josie involved with Start Something CALS, as a student assistant, Student Leadership Team member, and participant. When asked what her favorite part of the program is, she responded, “Start Something CALS has been my home away from home during college. I have made so many great connections and lifelong friends. While I don’t have intentions of starting a business after graduation, the opportunities I have been exposed to from this program have given me entrepreneurial skills that will be extremely valuable in any career I decide to pursue.”
