John Armstrong is a senior at Iowa State University majoring in Agricultural Studies. He grew up in rural Iowa County, Iowa and graduated from Williamsburg High School. He is the youngest of four children and the second to attend Iowa State University.
John has been involved in a variety of campus organizations since arriving at Iowa State University. He has held executive leadership positions in the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Alpha Zeta Honor Fraternity, and Bacon Expo. He has also served as a CALS Council Representative for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
John has been involved with the AgEI program throughout his time at Iowa State by attending roundtables and other events, as well as being a member of last year’s AgEI Student Incubator. He now serves as a member of the AgEI Student Leadership Team, where we use his leadership skills to ensure that our events run smoothly. He is in the second year of starting his own business, a custom seeding business in Eastern, Iowa that focuses on cover crops and helping producers simplify their seeding needs.
When asked about his involvement with AgEI, Jonh said, “I got involved in the AgEI program because I noticed how it helped students turn dreams into reality. You don’t have to go out and follow others foot steps. The AgEI program helps you take your ideas and dreams and make them a reality. Your passion can be your career.”
