Izak Christensen

Izak ChristensenThe youngest of three children to attend Iowa State University, Izak Chirstensen hails from a diversified crop and livestock operation near Riceville, Iowa. A senior at Iowa State University, Izak will graduate with a degree in agricultural business and agronomy, along with an MBA. 

Izak has known about Start Something College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) since before coming to Iowa State, as both of his older siblings were involved in the program during their college years. He has been involved since freshman year and now serves as a co-chair on the Start Something CALS Student Leadership Team.

On top of his involvement in Start Something CALS, Izak is also very involved on campus through a variety of different organizations. He has been a member of the National Agri-Marketing Association Competition Team, a peer mentor and teaching assistant in the Department of Economics, a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean’s Student Advisory Committee, a graduate assistant in the Department of Finance and Accounting, as well as holding executive leadership positions in the Agricultural Business Club, CALS Council, Iowa State Master of Business Administration Association, and Student Alumni Leadership Council. Izak has had several summer internship experiences over the past four years, with his last internship position being a procurement intern at Renewable Energy Group.

In his free time, Izak can be found golfing, traveling, or driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle around Ames. He brings a positive attitude to the Start Something CALS office and is always coming up with new ideas. When asked about his favorite part of Start Something CALS, Izak responded “Start Something CALS has been one of the highlights of my experience at Iowa State. The program provides opportunities to develop multiple skills and the chance to interact with industry leaders.”
