AgEI Student Spotlight - Rebekah Sletten

REBEKAH SLETTEN - AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS/INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURE

Rebekah Sletten is a junior at Iowa State University studying agricultural business and international agriculture. Growing up on her family’s farm outside of Osage, Iowa, she was involved in both 4-H and FFA which helped her develop a strong passion for agriculture.

Rebekah has been an active participant in the AgEI program since her freshman year, and now serves as a co-chair on the AgEI Student Leadership Team. When Rebekah isn’t spending time in the AgEI office, she can be found staying busy with several other organizations on campus, including, serving as the CALS Council- CALS Week Quad Chair, the National Agri-Marketing Association CALS Council Representative, CALS Ambassador- Chair of High School Visits Committee, Agricultural Business Club- Co Chair of Travel Committee, and the Homecoming Chair and New Member Education Assistant for her sorority, Chi Omega.

During the past two summers, Rebekah has held internship positions at the USDA as a Corn Research Intern (2016) and Dupont-Pioneer as a Sales Training and Development Intern (2017).

Even though Rebekah claims to be the highest scoring candy-eater in the AgEI office, we are grateful to have such a dedicated student as part of our team. When we asked Rebekah why she decided to become involved with our program, she responded, “I originally got involved with the program to learn more about entrepreneurship in the agricultural industry. Although I have not found my own ‘big idea’ yet, this program has provided me with skills and experiences that will apply to any career after college.”
